Toyota announced the date of the debut of the new twelfth generation of Corolla sedan. The model will be presented on November 16 at a motor show in Guangzhou, China. There will be a hatchback version too.
The new Toyota Corolla models will include a range of gasoline-powered and hybrid engines.
The new Corolla sedan will be built on the basis of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The same platform is used in the latest generation Prius and Camry.
According to unofficial data, depending on the market, the model will be equipped with hybrid power units based on 1.8 and 2.0 engines, their non-hybrid versions, as well as a 2.0-liter engine from the Dynamic Force Engine family, combined with a continuously variable Direct Shift-CVT transmission. It is quieter for improved Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) with additions such as a more rigid crankcase with integrated stiffener, a lighter resin cylinder head, and a ribbed oil pan.
The new Toyota Corolla sedan will not get the 1.2 liters, 116 horsepower turbo engine. This engine is offered for Auris, which will be renamed Corolla after entering the market.
